Mesopotamia is the broad land between the Euphrates and Tigris rivers, the larger Aramean and eastern world from which parts of the patriarchal family story emerge. It is important because it connects Israel's origins to a wider Near Eastern setting and later appears in judges, warfare, exile, and Acts. First appears in Gen 24:10.1
