Mahanaim was a town east of the Jordan near the Jabbok and is associated with Jacob's return and later royal refuge. It is important because it appears in the patriarchal story, in the reign of Ishbosheth, and as David's base during Absalom's rebellion. First appears in Gen 32:2.1
